Oscar Abril Ascaso (Barcelona, 1966) is a cultural producer, specialized in performance practices and theory of performativity. His career is focused on non object-oriented art. He has curated projects in the field of new media, sound art, performance practices, music or theater.
He has been artistic director of the Sonar festival in Barcelona, curator at the Factory for Live Arts L’Estruch at Sabadell and artistic director of the Laboral Center for Art and Industrial Creation of Gijón. Among the many projects he has been involved we could highlight the exhibition Techformance on the relations between happening and technology and the symposium Copyfight on free culture and intellectual property.
Currently he is a member of the platform for research and culture innovation Zzzinc of Barcelona.
